Those who stand close to Lily (see Foster's chapter 10, "Never Stand Next to the Hero," may find themselves in danger of the evil that rises up in reaction to the protagonist. We will be looking at Aristotle's dictum quoted in Foster's chapter 10 "Plot is character revealed in action" and considering how Kidd reveals character in action through her hero's journey quest plot. Everything's symbolic, so enjoy thinking about what the events, objects, and characters of this book represent! If you have any ideas or questions about the novel, post them here, and feel free to respond to your classmates' comments with comments and questions of your own. I look forward to discussing this novel with you in September.
